The design of the CM mixer is based on the principle of creating a mass flow within the partially conical shaped mixing vessel. The products to be mixed are conveyed upwards by means of a conveying screw positioned in a centrally mounted guiding pipe. On top of the central pipe, a guiding cone is provided. This cone distributes the product on top of the batch surface.
The combination of the conical vessel shape and the specially developed product inlet head of the guiding pipe creates velocity differences in product flows within the batch, resulting in an efficient mixing without product distortion.
The typical speed of the central screw is 70 to 80 Rpm. The Tip speed can fluctuate from 1 to 3 m/s.
The Hosokawa CM mixer can be used to mix:
powders with powders
powders with liquids
The convective mixing effect is created by the following 3 factors:
The mixing screw conveys the material upwards within the central guiding pipe.
The conical shaped cone distributes the product on the batch surface.
The complete batch of product sinks by gravity (mass flow).
Main features of the Centroscrew mixer
Mixing accuracy: Depending on the state and shape of the different materials, a high mixing accuracy can be achieved. The conical shaped vessel with the central screw will guarantee mass flow discharge characteristics.
Free flowing powders: This type of mixer is used for mixing big batches of free-flowing powders in the shortest amounts of time.
Mixer design: The CM mixer characterizes itself by it’s compact design and reliable design. This type of mixer is available in sizes from 1000 till 100.000 liters all produced in cantilevered execution.
Flexibility in process: The CM mixer has a flexible working capacity from 50 - 100% of filling rate without loosing it’s mixing accuracy.
Fragile components: The mixing process is accomplished with a minimal energy input and without generation of heat and without damaging product structures.
Fast and full discharge: The partial conical design in combination with the central bottom outlet guarantees a full discharge with a minimum of product remaining after discharge. Discharge rates of up to 40.000 litres/hr are possible. Depending on product characteristics, levels of residues after discharge up till 0.01% can be achieved.
