Working Principle

The Turbulizer is a continuous high speed horizontal paddle Mixer, provided with a rotor with paddles located in a single helical or double helical pattern around the shaft.

By adjusting paddle pitches and shaft speed the intensity can be tailored to the application. Units can be jacketed for either heating or cooling applications.
With maximum tip speeds of up to 40 - 50 m/s range, the Turbulizer is very effective in dispersing materials in a short time. Typical residence times range from one to twenty seconds.
With this type of flexibility, the Turbulizer has been used in a wide range of applications like high intensity mixing of powders, coating, fine agglomeration or continuous reacting of powders with gases. The Turbulizer heat transfer efficiency is extremely high due to the intimate contact between the material and the heated inside surface.

Main features of the Turbulizer:

  • High intensity impact continuous mixer

  • High capacity machine requiring minimal floor space or head room.

  • Self-cleaning/emptying rotor with minimal residue in the machine.

  • Low quantity of product in the Turbulizer and short residence time (1 - 40 seconds), provide efficient use of installed power.

  • Thin layer coating

  • Lump-free product.

  • Outboard bearings never in contact with product.

  • Fully adjustable paddles allow for flexibility in process design.

  • Variety of paddles available, depending on process requirements.

  • All models are available with jackets for heating and cooling with high heat transfer.
